Thesis submission options
last change: 13. August 2025
General information
Theses can be submitted in printed or electronic form in accordance with the applicable regulations. They can always be submitted around the clock, at the latest by 11:59 pm on the last day of submission. Please remember to include the signed declaration of independence with your thesis!
Submitting the electronic version
- Instead of submitting the bound copies, it is possible to submit an electronic version by uploading it to PAUL. The ZPS administrative office will check the submission and inform the reviewers. Here you will find further information on the requirements, which you must also have taken note of as part of the application for admission to the thesis/study work. => see https://digital.ub.uni-paderborn.de/urn/urn:nbn:de:hbz:466:2-44548 and https://katalog.ub.uni-paderborn.de/local/r/99375481692306441
Submission of bound thesis (for regulations see relevant examination regulations)
- Submission by post. The postmark is decisive for the submission date.
- It is also possible to hand in your thesis at the Central Examination Office, but only during office hours. Please do not put your thesis in the letterboxes outside the offices of the Central Examination Office, but use the Service Centre or the gate outside office hours (in an envelope addressed to the Central Examination Office).
Important note
Of course, the other information and regulations in the respective application for admission and letter of admission for the thesis and the corresponding examination regulations also apply. If the thesis has been submitted in accordance with the regulations, the ZPS will confirm this - at the earliest on the day after submission - by entering the submission date in PAUL under "My examinations" (= "Submitted on:" + date of submission). No further confirmation will be issued. If there are any deficiencies, you will be contacted directly by the ZPS.
A valid enrolment status in the relevant degree programme ("enrolled" or "on leave of absence with authorisation to take examinations") must be available when submitting the thesis and, if applicable, completing further final examinations!
