Internships at Paderborn University for international students
First step: Please clarify whether the internship is to take place as part of an exchange semester or purely for internship purposes.
Internship within a study mobility
- Erasmus+ or cooperation agreement required
- Participation within the semester cycle
- Nomination by home university required
- Nomination period: 15.4.-15.5. for the winter semester, 15.10.-15.11. for the summer semester of each year
- Enrollment incl. payment of semester fee required
- Semester ticket available (free public transport within North Rhine-Westphalia)
- Entry with study visa (if required, see visa navigator of the Federal Foreign Office)
- Work permit for international students (140 full or 280 half days per year); prerequisite: enrollment and residence permit in Germany
- Student assistant contract possible
- Orientation program before the start of the semester (optional)
- Free German courses (optional): Intensive Crash Course before semester start, Semester Course during the semester
- Access to campus management system PAUL (from the start of the semester)
- Dormitory Accommodation provided by Studierendenwerk (subject to availability)
Temporary stay for internship purposes
- Independent of semester - possible at any time
- No enrollment
- No payment of the semester fee required
- Entry with work or internship visa (if required)
- Sufficient insurance cover required (health insurance, accident insurance, liability insurance)
- In the Erasmus+ area, an individual "Learning Agreement for Traineeships" is concluded for each student
- Selection and responsibility: faculties, supervisors
- The use of UPB's infrastructure is partly possible without enrollment:
- Supervisors can apply for a Uni account for guests
- For the University Library, the faculty can apply for an ID card for guests:

This requires an informal certificate from the faculty stating the reason for the visit and the duration of the visit. This certificate must be presented to the University Library.
- It is also possible for guests to visit the canteen (payment by EC card or issue of a Delicard for guests)

We regret that we we cannot arrange internships outside the university. Please contact the relevant companies/institutions yourself.
