Participation in external continuing education
Paderborn University employees can participate in courses and events held by external continuing education providers. Some providers have co-operation agreements with the university, thereby enabling free participation.
Organisational information
Registration/notification to Personnel Development and funding
The costs for external training courses must be covered by the organisational unit in which the employee is employed. However, some providers offer free participation (see below).
If you would like to take part in external training, please register for the relevant course yourself in consultation with your line manager.
Training courses are not applied for via a business trip authorisation, but are organised via a letter of confirmation issued by Personnel Development (Training). Please complete the form below for this letter.
Please apply for the letter of confirmation as early as possible, but no later than one week before the start of the event, as additional time may be required to check whether third-party funding is involved.
We will then prepare a letter of confirmation for you, a copy of which will be sent directly to the travel expenses centre.
After the training course, you can settle your travel expenses in the same way as for a business trip (please select "Training trip" as the G/L account on the travel expense invoice forms ). It is also possible to apply for a payment on account using the payment on account form.
Special features for online events
The above does not apply to online events! There are different regulations here:
As you take part in online events from your workplace, no letter of confirmation is required. You simply register for the desired online event yourself.
You can then settle your expenses using an account assignment sheet for expenses or the"Reimbursement of disbursed costs" forms. Please also note that online events must be coordinated with your supervisor.
The entire procedure also applies to professors!
