The Pader (website available only in German) is just four kilometres long, making it Germany's shortest river. It has its source in hundreds of springs in the heart of the city. Just outside Paderborn, beautiful gardens, inviting parks, and a variety of sports facilities (website available only in German) provide the perfect setting for relaxation or outdoor activities.

Libori (website available only in German) is renowned as one of Germany's most beautiful traditional fairs. The annual AStA Summer Festival (website available only in German), held on the University campus, is one of Germany's largest campus festivals.

At the Paderborn Theatre (website available only in German) audiences can enjoy a mix of contemporary and classic productions — often reinterpreted in surprising new ways. Le Mans, France, is our sister city — Europe’s oldest city partnership — and we are home to the world’s largest computer museum. With East Westphalia-Lippe serving as a model for the digitalisation of public administration, the city, and the region, Paderborn is regarded as North Rhine-Westphalia’s digital Leitkommune (leading digital municipality), website only available in German).
