Degree funding
BAf?G state loan (graduation grant)
If the maximum funding period has been reached and an extension of the maximum funding period has already been granted due to pregnancy/child rearing and the degree has not yet been fully completed, there is still the option of applying for graduation assistance.
This possibility exists if the student is expected to be able to complete their studies within four semesters after the end of the maximum funding period/expiry of the extension of the maximum funding period (in accordance with § 15 para. 3 BAf?G) within the funding period provided by the BAf?G state loan (max. 12 months). The training centre must certify this. The interest-free loan must be repaid in full. Further information can be found here.
It is important to note that the receipt of the graduation grant (BAf?G state loan) does not have to follow on seamlessly from the regular BAf?G receipt. If, for example, you still need three semesters until graduation, it is possible to bridge one semester, e.g. by working, and then apply for the graduation grant.
Your contact at the BAf?G office is responsible for the application. You can find the application form here.
Daka student loan
Another option for financing the completion of your studies is to apply for an interest-free student loan from the Darlehenskasse der Studierendenwerke e.V. You can find more information here.
Educational loan from the KfW
Students at an advanced stage of their education can obtain low-interest financing through a KfW education loan. Further information can be found on the website of the Office for Educational Support of the Studierendenwerk Paderborn.
