Scholarships
Students with child(ren) can also hope to receive financial support or scholarships from foundations. However, these funds are not necessarily available to all students. Subject of study, affiliation to certain social or political groups, gender or other criteria can be decisive for the grants.
Christiane Nüsslein-Volhard Foundation
This foundation supports talented young female scientists with children in order to give them the freedom and mobility they need for a scientific career. It is aimed at female doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers in a subject area of experimental natural sciences and medicine. With monthly financial support for household help and additional childcare, the aim is to relieve female scientists of domestic tasks. Further information can be found at the following link.
Klaus Tschira Foundation
This foundation awards the Gerda Tschira Scholarship for single mothers and fathers in the information and economic sciences. This scholarship is intended to enable this group of students and their children to study abroad outside Europe. Further information can be found here.
