25 November is Orange Day - the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The UN has been using the colour orange to draw attention to gender-specific violence since 1991: Buildings around the world are lit up in the colour orange as part of the campaign. Paderborn University is once again sending out an important signal this year and is taking part in the day of action.
On Thursday, 20 November, Prof. Dr. Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov, Rector of the Uzbekistan State World Languages University in Tashkent, visited Paderborn University and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with University President Prof. Dr. Matthias Bauer.

The "Deutsche Romanistikverband" (DRV / German Romance Studies Association) awards the Elise Richter Prize for outstanding doctorates and habilitations. This year, Dr. Hendrik Schlieper from the Institute for German Language and Comparative Literature received the prestigious award for his habilitation thesis.
Once again this year, the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) at Leiden University in the Netherlands has recognised the publication achievements of researchers at Paderborn University. The subject areas of mathematics and computer science at Paderborn University once again performed particularly well.

A computer that can calculate hundreds of scientific tasks simultaneously and thus helps provide a solution to key social challenges: this is the new IT heart of Paderborn University.
On Sunday, 23 November, the Arp Museum will open the exhibition "Landscapes of the Soul
James Ensor – Claude Monet – Léon Spilliaert". Also showcased: five museum cases from Paderborn University, which were created as part of a joint teaching project between the subject areas of art and French in collaboration with the Belgium Centre.
Dr. Marie-Léa Rousseau, Attachée for Science and Technology at the French Embassy in Berlin, visited Paderborn University. Among other things, she gained an insight into the activities of the COLOURS university alliance and presented the Weimar Excellence Programme, which made the visit possible.
Another step on the way to a future-proof and sustainable IT infrastructure at Paderborn University: the shell of the extension to the data centre in Building X has been completed.
